Visit of EIT and the European Parliament’s ITRE Committee in Vienna

The European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) visited CLC East, in order to get concrete ideas of a KIC in the start-up phase. The EIT director Martin Kern, some of his core staff and representatives of the European Commission joined the delegation.

The workshop took place at the premises of Atos’ Business Technology & Innovation Center in Vienna, on the 29th of October. Atos Austria CEO, Johann Schachner, welcomed the prominent guests after a short guided tour through TU Wien’s Pilot Factory, which was led by its managing director, Claudia Schickling. Two more testimonials from CLC East talked about their motives for joining EIT Manufacturing and their respective expectations: Renald Kern from Magna as a representative of CLC East industry partners and Jürgen Stampfl, one of the most entrepreneurial professors at TU Wien. Brief keynote speeches by Klaus Beetz (CEO of EITM), Rahel Falk (Interim Director of CLC East) and Maria Kanov, the Vienna-based Co-founder of Women@EIT, completed the agenda.

It was an exciting event for CLC East partners and we do hope that the ITRE Committee appreciated it as much as we did. We are looking forward to the next visit!
