The Conference on Learning Factories took place in Braunschweig, from March 26 to 28 2019 and was hosted by the Technical University of Braunschweig, in its lab and learning factory installations.

With more than 140 participants, the main topics under discussion were Learning Factories and Industry 4.0 learning, sustainable manufacturing, mixed reality and immersive learning environments, learning approaches and evaluation, and interdisciplinary cooperation.

EIT Manufacturing was represented by its Interim COO, Dimitris Mavrikios, who presented the concept of teaching factories, and the Interim Education Director, Reinhard Pittschellis, who held the keynote about the innovation community with a special focus on the prominent role of learning and teaching factories for EIT Manufacturing.

It was the 9th Conference on Learning Factories, which has been organized in recent years by University of Patras, Greece; Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany; Gjovik University College, Norway; Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany; KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden; Technische Universität München, Germany and TU Wien, Austria.
