More than 800 participants were gathered at the Startup Europe Summit 2019 in Romania, on March 21 and 22, an event hosted by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
During the Summit, leading players in technology entrepreneurship and innovation from Central and Eastern Europe were able to meet key actors in innovation ecosystems from Western Europe.
The Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel, was the keynote speaker for the topic Digital Economy and Society, in the Main Conference. Other parallel sessions happened under the themes of Leveraging corporate-startups strategic relationships, Financing Innovation and Startups, Scaling Startup Ecosystems, Women in tech.
The event also included several network activities, pitching competitions and an exhibition, which allowed participants to get inspired by technology leaders and learn about European funding opportunities by European Comission Officers.
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) organised a workshop to introduce its different Innovation Comunities and Start-up Support Services, in which EIT Manufacturing’s Interim Business Creation Director, Antoni Pijoan, spoke about the launch of the new community and importance of the Business Creation pillar, as well as opportunities start-ups may find out when joining the Business Creation activities.
